March 3rd, 1897 The day the bottles-in-bond act was signed in to law. What does it mean to be “bottled-in-bond?” 1. Were distilled in the same distilling season (January to June or July to December)2. Distillation occurred at a single distillery3. Aged for a minimum of four years4. Bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) if domestic5. Label must identify the distillery who made it6. Label must identify the bottling location ifdifferent than distiller or distillery7. Only water could be added
